Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to New Approaches in Humanities Quarterly (NAHQ) undergo a rigorous and impartial double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of academic quality and research integrity.

  1. Initial Screening:
Upon submission, each manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial office to ensure compliance with the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and ethical standards. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic criteria or fall outside the journal’s aims may be returned to the author without external review.

  2. Plagiarism Check:
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software to verify originality. Manuscripts containing plagiarism or unethical citation practices are rejected immediately.

  3. Double-Blind Peer Review:
Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Both the reviewers and the authors remain anonymous to each other throughout the process to maintain objectivity and fairness.

  4. Review Criteria:
Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on the originality of the research, clarity of writing, soundness of methodology, quality of analysis, relevance to the field, and contribution to the humanities.

  5. Editorial Decision:
After receiving the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions: accept as is, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Authors are notified of the decision along with constructive feedback from the reviewers.

  6. Revision and Resubmission:
Authors invited to revise their manuscripts must address all reviewer comments carefully and resubmit within the specified time. The revised manuscript may be re-evaluated by the same reviewers before a final decision is made.

  7. Final Acceptance and Publication:
Once a manuscript is accepted, it undergoes copyediting, proofreading, and final formatting before online and print publication.

The entire review process typically takes six to eight weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of revisions. NAHQ is committed to maintaining a transparent, fair, and efficient review process that ensures the publication of high-quality and ethically sound research.
